Walkup is an application that help the residents of British Columbia to explore the places near them. With this app, people can go out for hiking, swimming, fishing and different activities. For newcomers to British Columbia who don't know various places to explore, this is an app for them. Also, this app provides an opportunity to people to connect with each other and form guides to travel and explore different places. Additionally, people can also book or rent gears with this app from different people registered on WalkUp, so that they can have all the necessary tools available for the activities.
Background
WalkUp is the second term project accomplished while studying at Langara College. Considering the course constraints we were required to build an application that fulfils the basic need of life. WalkUp is an application that allow people to explore different places around them. This app also provide opportunities for people to connect with each other and plan trips among them.
My role in the team
The team consist of 7 students, 3 designers and 4 developers. I was the UI/UX designer. As a designer, I researched the market, designed the user flow, one of the persona, wireframes for gears page, homepage and account page.. I also did the UI mockups for the homepage design, gears page, account page and adventure page.
UI and Branding
As a UI designer, I created the UI kit, the infographic used on different page, as well as participating in visualizing the data sets. I also designed the mock-ups for homepage design, gears page, account page and adventure page. Finally, I created the project presentation slides and project proposal template and content.
The logo was inspired by the design a peak or mountain having the shape of a W which is the initial of our app name WalkUp.
